Crit with IBM

#crit with IBM #Rania and Riccie#Feedback
Today we had a crit among ourselves as well as with Rania and Riccie from IBM. I presented two prototypes: Prototype 2 and Prototype 3(See more details through the blog links).
Project Description
Research question
I’m interested in how the gender of the voice construct/effect the impression of an opinion and how a viewer may choose a path through the physical set up and how does the sound of the voice evoke different emotions.
Aim of the project
With this project, I would like to empower women through highlighting the female voices and create a debate on and feminism and women rights.
How
Prototype 2: With this one-on-one installation, viewers are able to experience the unfamiliarity of communicating with each other in a voice of the opposite gender and rethink how the gender of the voice affect your authority, do people receive the information after filtering it through the lens of gender?
Prototype 2:
Sound forest: an audio symphony. Ode to Women
The sound forest consists of 8 individual yet correlate soundtracks of women or men talking about feminism with voice converted into the opposite gender, chanting for what they believe in and fight for.
I’m very glad that I had received lots of positive feedbacks when I’m actually waiting to be bombarded by criticisms. The general feedbacks received indicate that
IT’S A STRONG TOPIC WITH A STRONG MESSAGE AND INTERESTING EXPERIENCES. WELL-RESEARCHED AND MEANINGFUL. The majority of people enjoy Prototype 2
Some suggestions for prototype 2:
-Pitch detection patch in MAX (Gareth)
-Fine-tune the pitch to eliminate the novelty/comical feeling.(Gareth)
-A workshop-Find the right people for an interview and see their reactions, recording the process. (Riccie)
-The setting of the experience could be in an environment of uncertainty, a darker space maybe, with headphone? INTERVIEW WITH MEASURABLE QUESTIONS FOR ANALYSIS (Rania)
Some suggestions for prototype 2:
-CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT IT ACTUALLY IS-me too.
-Reference of Notation 24, graphic design-redesigning notation (Nicolas)
-Plato’s cave (Nicolas)
